The Winter Egg is a celebration of Christmas and the winter season. Its fusion of winter ice and festive cheer is made of cobalt blue and clear crystal with the Imperial Crown of Russia adorning its top.

The egg opens to reveal the surprise of a music box that plays `Silent Night.`

The sterling silver base is turned with a starburst pattern, and the vermeil crown winds up the mechanism and turns with the music. A cabochon ruby operates the miniature mechanism.

The Winter Egg is from a closed edition of 750 exemplars.

These Faberge creations are designed and produced by the late Theo Faberge, the last surviving grandson of Imperial Jeweller Carl Faberge, and his daughter, Sarah Faberge.

These eggs are creations from the St Petersburg Collection and are chronicled in the book, \"Theo Faberge and the St Petersburg Collection,\" written by Andrew Moore and published by the St Petersburg Collection of the United Kingdom in 1989 and with a second printing in 1999.
